NEW YORK (Reuters) -Bronx Zoo Closes Exhibit its reptile house exhibits during the weekend, after workers discovered a highly poisonous Egyptian cobra was missing from its cage.The snake disappeared prompted zoo officials to immediately close the reptile house Friday evening until further notice "abundance of caution," a statement said.
"We are convinced that the snake," a young, 20-inch-long Cobra ", is contained in an isolation area, non-public building," he said, adding that the snakes are known to prefer enclosed spaces to open areas.A zoo spokeswoman said the snake still unaccounted for since Sunday.Visitors to the zoo and its website have been informed that the world of reptile show closed.
Egyptian cobra is a venomous snake in Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. It can grow 6-8 feet tall.
