Sarah Palin Crosshairs: After the news broke yesterday that Gabrielle Giffords had been shot, observers noted that Giffords had been Palin’s target during her campaign.
Palin’s campaign, “Take Back the 20,” called on Americans to vote the Democrats out of office who had voted for healthcare reform in conservative districts. She posted an announcement on her Facebook page with an image of the districts she was targeting. Each targeted district had crosshairs over it, which are usually associated with gun sights.
Representative Gabrielle Giffords, who was shot along with 19 others outside a Tucson grocery store Saturday, responded to the Sarah Palin crosshairs map by warning that violent rhetoric has its consequences.

Giffords, who is now hospitalized in critical condition after a gunshot to the head, made the statement in March 2010 during an interview with The Daily Rundown on MSNBC.
"We're on Sarah Palin's 'targeted' list, but the thing is that the way that she has it depicted has the crosshairs of a gun sight over our district. And when people do that, they've got to realize that there's consequences to that action."
